Systems thinking
In the world of complex problems, there is no room for oversimplified solutions. My broad background, from hands-on horticulture to theoretical food system redesign, allows me to consider both practical and conceptual aspects. I aim to view every issue from a multitude of perspectives and synthetise my findings into a comprehensive and pragmatic answer.
Communication
Not a single idea, however brilliant, can inspire others, unless it is communicated clearly – both through language and visual materials. Many of us, creatives and researchers, are not natural communicators, and I see this as the key reason why research and design may fail to make an impact. How can we communicate abstract theories and intricate designs on a human level? This is a question I constantly explore.
Landscapes
I love seeing thriving, productive landscapes – it is what drives my research and inspires my designs. I believe that green spaces that serve multiple functions can be the solution to many of our contemporary problems. From producing food and natural fibres to mitigating the climate crisis and providing spaces for relaxation and education – they can do it all!
Wannabe archeologist
I constantly scan the ground for shards of pottery and clay pipe stems.
